Frequently Asked Questions

What should we wear?

For family photos, coordinating colors work well especially neutrals. A good rule of thumb is to avoid busy patterns and bold stripes and well as very dark colors or bright white shirts and sweaters. Seniors can be more adventurous with outfits and colors as they are the only ones in their photos (and often have more than one outfit.) Once you book your session, we'll connect on what to wear suggestions. I'm always happy to share feedback on your outfit choices.

When will we get our photos?

Your will receive an online gallery link with all your professionally edited photos in about 2 weeks (often faster!) You will be able to download all the photos from the gallery I share with you. From there you will be able to share them, choose your favorites, and also order prints!

How far in advance should I book my session?

Most sessions book 2–4 weeks in advance, especially in the spring and fall.

How many pictures will we receive?

My base sessions include at least 30 professionally edited images. I have other sessions that allow for more time and I deliver more images. Just contact me for more information.

What's in your camera bag?

I have been a Canon photographer for over 25 years! I can't even count my many camera upgrades over the years - camera technology advancements are amazing.

Camera: R5 m2 mirrorless
Lenses: RF 28 - 70 2.0 lens, RF 85 1.2 lens, RF 70 - 200 2.8 lens

I have macro, super zoom and wide angle lenses too ... but I won't need those for your portrait session.

When do your photo sessions take place?

I prefer to book my family photography sessions Saturday and Sunday afternoons and on select weekday evenings. My session times are chosen with ideal natural lighting in mind (lighting is KEY to flattering photos.)

I start outdoor sessions about an hour or two before sunset or at sunrise. The most important aspect of a successful session is light. I never want the light to be too bright or too dark. If it’s a cloudy day, I like to meet a bit earlier in the afternoon to ensure that there is enough light for your session.
